Ambassador Meets with the Speaker of House of Commons

18 April, 2012

Today, the Speaker of the House of Commons, Rt. Hon. John Bercow, received the Ambassador Kazinian in the House of Commons.

This was the Ambassador’s first official meeting with the Speaker. During the meeting, which was held in a warm atmosphere, the Ambassador Kazinian spoke about the history of British-Armenian relations and provided general information on Armenia,  Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and regional developments.

Addressing the UK-Armenia 20 year relations, the Ambassador noted that Armenia has strong interest in developing cooperation with the United Kingdom through intensive political dialogue, economic and trade exchanges. The Ambassador also spoke about the noteable British presence in Armenia, which can be expanded further to reflect the ambition of increased bilateral engagement.

The Speaker assigned his head of staff, who was also present at the meeting, to look into the possibilities of arranging a visit this year and keeping in touch with the Ambassador in regards to this matter, as well as his participation in the upcoming event, dedicated to the 20 year of diplomatic relations between the UK and Armenia.
