Celebrating the 90th Anniversary of First Armenian Church in London

The Armenian Church in the UK and St. Sarkis Church Trust & Parish, under the auspices of His Grace Bishop Vahan Hovhanessian, Primate of the Armenian Church in the UK and Pontifical Legate, are celebrating the 90th Anniversary of St. Sarkis Church, the first Armenian Church in London, with a series of educational, cultural and social events. Some 17 events have been organised between September and January to celebrate this historic milestone with the parishioners of St. Sarkis and the wider Armenian community.

90th Anniversary Calendar of Events

Sunday, 16 September, 1:00 PM - His Grace Bishop Vahan is the speaker at the opening event on 16 September 2012; 1:00 pm. His Grace will speak about "The Bible and the Armenian Church", followed by discussion. Light lunch will be served in the Nvart Gulbenkian Hall following the Divine Liturgy and before the discussion.

Sunday, 30 September, 11:30 AM - AREV Children’s play group.

Sunday, 7 October, 1:00 PM - "Sources of Faith of the Armenian Church", a presentation by Dr Hratch Tchilingirian (Oxford University), followed by discussion. Light lunch will be served in the Nvart Gulbenkian Hall following the Divine Liturgy and before the discussion.

Saturday, 13 October, 7:00-8:00 PM - Concert in St. Sarkis Church. Mezzo Anaïs Heghoyan and tenor Sipan Hakobyan.

Saturday, 20 October, 7:30 PM - Armenian Evening at St. Sarkis. Dinner with Poet Paruyr Sevak.

Sunday, 28 October, 11:30 AM - AREV Children’s play group

Saturday, 3 November, 7:00 PM - Armenian Evening at St. Sarkis - Dinner with Poet Lola Koundakjian.

Sunday, 11 November, 1:00 PM - "Veneration of Saints in the Armenian Apostolic Church, a presentation by the Very Rev. Fr. Gargein Hambardzumyan (Sheffield University), followed by discussion. Light lunch will be served in the Nvart Gulbenkian

Hall following the Divine Liturgy and before the discussion.

Saturday, 17 November, 7:00 PM - CONCERT IN ST. SARKIS CHURCH. Violinist Levon Chilingirian and Cellist Alexander Chaushian.

Sunday, 25 November, 11:30 AM - AREV Children’s play group

Wednesday, 5 December, 7:30 PM - Wednesday, 5 December, 7:30 PM "Liturgical Language and Liturgical Celebration" a talk by Fr. Shnork Baghdassarian, at Armenian House.

Saturday, 8 December, 7:30 PM - Wine & Philosophy - Food for thought, wine and light dinner
