Commemoration Event dedicated to the victims of the Spitak Earthquake

 On the 9th of December the liturgy was served in the Armenian Church Saint Yegiche in London in memory of the victims of the Spitak Eartquake of 1988. The representatives of the Armenian Community of the UK and the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia attended the Service.

Ms. Hayarpi Drmeyan, Consul, delivered remarks on behalf of the Embassy. She recalled the tragic earthquake of 1988, which shocked the whole world. Ms. Drmeyan praised the efforts aimed at overcoming the consequences of the devastated earthquake. She expressed gratitude to the Armenian Communities of the UK and Ireland for their ongoing support to the regions suffered from the earthquake. Consul Drmeyan also appreciated and highly valued the kind assistance of the British and Irish Government, organisations, individuals, rescuers who supported Armenia in the aftermath of the Spitak tragedy, underlying that it was a vivid example of the international humanitarian assistance.

Mr. Hratch Kouyoumjian deleverd remarks on behalf of the Armenian Community Council. The representative of the Armenian Embassy laid flowers in memory of the victims of the Spitak Earthquake at the Cross-Stone in the yard of the Church.
